About Paulo

Paulo Vaz is the owner and master mechanic of Benicia Motorworks. To say Paulo has a passion for cars is a big understatement! Paulo grew up in a European home where his father raced cars in Europe before opening a motor garage, to use the British term, and infused Paulo with the joy and knowledge of helping every auto perform as well or better than designed.

Paulo’s Father believed in giving his son the best automobile education possible. He therefore sent Paulo to learn new skills and gain an understanding of different makes of automobiles by working for other garages. These experiences included working at a dealership and for a dealership racing team.

Throughout his youth, Paulo worked by his father’s side learning the business from the ground up. There he learned to rebuild cars from frame to finished product, performed repairs and helped maintain the work in his father’s motor garage.

Although his Father wanted to pass along the family business to Paulo, he had a dream to move to America and start a motor garage of exceptional quality for European automobiles. So, Paulo moved to the USA. After immigrating he began working for a European Auto Dealership as well as several independent European shops. Over time he became dissatisfied with the corporate style of car service and decided to provide his passion for autos directly to people who have a passion for their car.
